Karen Manuel has over 15 years of experience managing initiatives to address workforce needs, including education and equity issues in the science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields. Prior to joining the Workforce Institute, she worked to address digital equity issues via projects with the City of Seattle, the State of Idaho, the State of Wyoming, and VisionTech360. At the Technology Alliance, she launched the Youth Apps Challenge initiative to build youth interest in computer science and entrepreneurship. Prior to this, she focused on building K-12 student interest in STEM through initiatives at EdLab Group and the Alliance for Education. She excels at establishing strategy, initiatives and partnerships to improve workforce preparation, education, and access to technology. Karen holds a B.A. from Carleton College and a M.A.Ed. from Seattle University and has served on numerous boards.
