Central Oregon is experiencing one of the fastest-growing job markets in the country. At the top of the list is the tech industry. Over 200 tech companies employing up to 1,400 employers, call the Greater Bend area home. These companies are projected to hire more than 400 additional tech employees in 2018. Tech salaries range from $46,000 to $110,000 depending on the industry occupation.

Central Oregon Apprenti Affiliate
To address Bend’s growing tech industry demand, East Cascades Workforce Investment Board has partnered with the Technology Association of Oregon and Apprenti™, the nation’s first registered tech apprenticeship program, to provide industry lead guidance on tech training and job placement for apprentices and businesses within the central sub-region (Deschutes, Jefferson and Crook Counties).
East Cascades Workforce Investment Board (ECWIB) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization designated by the Governor to convene, oversee and support the workforce development systems in their respective regions in Oregon. The ECWIB office is located in Bend, Oregon, but serves a 10 county area just east of the Cascade mountain range. The counties include: Crook, Deschutes, Gilliam, Hood River, Jefferson, Klamath, Lake, Sherman, Wasco, and Wheeler.

The Apprenti program, recruits, trains and places diverse talent into tech roles creating innovative ways to grow top talent in the industry. The Apprenti model allows our technology training programs to stay relevant in a fast-paced and fast-growing industry. Apprentices move quickly through their course training and then go directly to work on-the-job with companies like Kollective, Five Talent, and CBT Nuggets.
