Overview
A Cloud Operations Specialist is tasked with creating and provisioning cloud platform services at a basic level, without specialized knowledge in the development of cloud applications themselves. Related occupational roles include cloud support associates (for cloud providers, rather than customers), DevOps specialists, and systems or network administrators.
Related Technical Instruction (RTI)
As part of RTI, cloud operation specialist apprentices generally receive instruction in:
- Network Fundamentals
- Linux Systems and Administration
- SQL and Python Scripting
- Cloud Fundamentals
On-the-Job Training (OJT)
During OJT, cloud operation specialist apprentices generally work on tasks substantially similar to the following:
- Customer support (including identifying problems, troubleshooting, and testing/implementing fixes for system issues)
- Cloud service management (configuration, migration, deployment, access control, integration)
- Ticket management (ensuring activity records and requests are managed, logged, and fully documented)
- Automating common data and maintenance activities
