Goal

A major player in the financial services industry was facing increasing demand for cybersecurity talent. Recognizing the growing threats in the digital landscape, they aimed to proactively build a cybersecurity workforce while also expanding access to tech careers for individuals from distressed populations.

Challenge

The employer’s existing hiring channels weren’t meeting the growing need for cybersecurity professionals—especially in a field where demand vastly outpaces supply. At the same time, many capable individuals lacked access to the traditional pathways that would allow them to enter this highly regulated and high-stakes industry.

Apprenti Solution

Apprenti partnered with the employer to stand up a Cybersecurity Analyst apprenticeship cohort. Together, they:

  • Designed a tailored technical training pathway that met the employer’s security standards
  • Identified and assessed candidates from underrepresented and economically challenged communities
  • Delivered classroom training followed by one year of paid, on-the-job experience
  • Provided support services and mentoring to ensure apprentice success

This model allowed the employer to both future-proof their cybersecurity talent needs and contribute to broader economic mobility goals.

Results

  • Cohort Success

The inaugural cybersecurity cohort launched with strong retention and performance across the board.

  • Workforce Readiness

Apprentices were trained on CompTIA Network+, Security+, and CySA+, meeting industry certification standards.

  • Access Expanded

Candidates from distressed populations were placed into high-growth roles with long-term potential.

  • Model for Growth

The employer is now exploring expanding the apprenticeship program to other tech roles based on this initial success.
