Apprenti Graduates First Group of DC-Area Apprentices

In July, Apprenti celebrated the graduation of 30 Washington, DC area apprentices at Amazon’s offices in Herndon, Virginia.  The graduates were placed with Amazon for their on-the-job training to become Data Center Technicians, Network Technicians, Cloud Support Associates, or Associate Cloud Consultants. All of the apprentices received 10 to 16 weeks of technical training through Northern Virginia Community College prior to starting their on-the-job training.

We are pleased to announce all 30 graduates were hired by Amazon as journeyworkers following the completion of their apprenticeships. Among these apprentices are Sergey Voytov, a former Air Force pharmacy technician who moved from Arizona to Virginia in order to join our Datacenter Technician apprenticeship. He is now working as a Network Technician with Amazon Web Services.

The Apprenti program has been operating in the DC area since September 2017. There are around 70 active apprentices, and Apprenti is placing an additional 32 apprentices in Data Center Technician and Associate Cloud Consultant roles by the end of the year.
