Apprenti Featured Apprentice: Bevin Smith

This month we are presenting one of our first Amazon apprentices. Bevin moved all the way from Chicago to pursue his passion in the tech sector. Bevin is from a group of 8 veterans who are currently training as apprentices to be Cloud Support Associates at Amazon.

How did you first decide to pursue an apprenticeship through Apprenti?

I was going to college in Chicago and looking for a part time tech job at the time, one night I was scrolling through Facebook and I saw an ad for Apprenti, so I figured I would give the test a shot and see where things went.

What were you doing before Apprenti?

I was working on my Bachelor’s degree at DeVry and working part time jobs.

What are you training for right now? How is it going so far?

Currently, I am training for my AWS Solutions Architect certificate and Linux + certification as a part of my apprenticeship as a Cloud Operations Specialist at Amazon. It is going awesome! I love how much I get to learn every day.

What effect has Apprenti brought to your career if any? What’s your plan for your career post Apprenti?

Apprenti has made my career, I never thought I would be working at AWS, especially without a college degree! I definitely plan on staying with Amazon, it is an awesome company to work for.

Would you recommend Apprenti? Who would you recommend it to?

I would absolutely recommend Apprenti to anyone who is passionate about technology, wants to make a major change in their life, and is willing to put in work for it.
