A Decade of Impact: Reflecting on 10 Years of Apprenti
Apprenti, a nationally Registered Apprenticeship (RA) intermediary, developed a proven pathway for individuals from non-traditional backgrounds to excel in mid-level tech roles. As Apprenti reflects on a decade of groundbreaking impact, it’s evident that Registered Apprenticeship can rapidly address America’s growing skills gap and support economic growth through a skilled and adaptable workforce.
Since 2015, Apprenti has evolved from a promising proof of concept to a nationally recognized thought leader in identifying untapped talent and preparing them to meet the growing needs of employers.
In Ten Years, Apprenti Has Achieved Remarkable Results:
- Apprentice Placements. Since 2015, Apprenti has directly placed over 4,500 apprentices into living wage jobs with over 350 unique employer partners. Beyond this, Apprenti has also supported over 20 organizations in filing their own standards, which has resulted in an additional 1,500+ registered apprentices.
- Apprentice Demographics. Of the direct placements, 85% identify as underrepresented: 36% veterans, 32% women, and 14% individuals with disabilities. Apprentices range in age from 18 to 65, with a median age of 31.
- Apprentice Retention. Apprenti’s strong track record has exceeded benchmarks of traditional Registered Apprenticeship: 93% of apprentices complete RTI, and of those, 86% go on to complete OJT, with 89% ultimately retained by their employer.
- Occupation Expansion. Apprenti has expanded to over 20 tech occupations, placing apprentices from all 50 states with 350+ employer partners.
- Wage Growth. Economic mobility is central to Apprenti’s mission. While the average pre-apprenticeship median earning is $44,326, the average post-apprenticeship wage is $89,000—a 114% wage increase in under two years. Apprentices report an average annual salary increase of $40,000; this translates to an expected lifetime earnings boost of over $2.25 million.
Why This Work Still Matters
Registered Apprenticeship creates a holistic ecosystem of talent that is scalable, sustainable, and portable—across state lines, industry verticals, and companies. Apprenticeship allows individuals to build skills while earning a wage, delivering a proven return on investment for employers and opening doors to economic mobility for individuals, especially those from underrepresented or distressed backgrounds.
As industries diversify and states invest heavily in apprenticeship as a workforce strategy, the need for standardized, scalable models has never been greater. Apprenti is proud to lead this movement, delivering programs that drive real outcomes and demonstrating that apprenticeship isn’t just a workforce solution—it’s a catalyst for economic growth.
