What is Apprenticeship?

An apprenticeship is a combination of on-the-job training and related classroom instruction under the supervision of a trade professional in which the apprentice learns the practical and theoretical aspects of a highly skilled occupation. An apprenticeship program that is registered with the Washington State Department of Labor & Industries requires the completion of a minimum of one-year of paid on-the-job training in addition to technical training.
